Flowers, flowers a-bloomin'

I love orchids... but the problem with them is the arrangement. There's rarely any purely orchid bouquets around. Normally orchids are not the "star" of the arrangement but rather the "back-up singers". Just like forget-me-nots. I love those too. I guess I have a thing for supporting the underdogs. ;)

Anyway, today was my office grand opening party. So, we got lotsa flowers from suppliers galore. So, I took several stalks of orchids back home to experiment on the arrangements for my wedding.

Thought I'd have simplicity in the design, simplicity is classy. Also, I can probably get friends to help out and save on florist expenditure too. Dad's friend owns an orchid nursery.... yay!!! So, daddy can pull some strings for her little girl.

Back to the designs... what do you think?

I kinda like all!! Feel so indecisive for once. I just love orchids, they are pretty to me however they are arranged. I can always decide later... after I check with baby. At least I have some pretty orchids to brighten up my room for the next couple of days!

Make-up artist

Just did my trial with my wedding make-up artist, Suki today!!

Before

After

Itu pun I took the "after" photo after I took off the fake lashes otherwise d eyes would've been much nicer, more dramatic!! :)

Notice the "after" photo my eyes don't look symmetrical? Well, that's because I wanted to try out different colours and different effects to see which I like best. So each eye was done up differently. I like the left-eye better!! Earthy-tones but glam up with shimmers and dark dramatic eye liner! I love it!!!

Suki is really professional, flexible and accommodative... she tried out different styles of make-up for me so that I can decide on which one I wanna go with during my big day. Then she took a photo of me to ensure she remembers the look I love best to re-create it on my big day!!

Yay!!! :)

A place to call home

After a long and tiring hunt, we finally found a place we like, can afford, hasn't got any developer problems and only about 5-10mins from my office!! :)

In fact, it was d first place we looked at... after a long exhausting search and looking at other places, we were back to square one and it was still da best! The unit we first saw many moons ago was already sold when we finally decided to go back to it. However, another unit which was even better just opened for sale at almost the same price... only couple of grand more. :)

It is new place, was only complete last year. So the unit is completely new, we will be the first occupants!

D master bedroom

From the other angle

It is a corner unit, therefore the corridor outside the front door is ours and ours alone!!

The kitchen area and courtyard

It has huge pool...cool???

Well, it's not technically ours yet till all the legal and $$$ process is all done. That'll take at least 3-4 months. I can't wait!!! :)

Designer gown

Looking for a wedding gown? Why look outside the country when we have a host of really talented local designers. Their designs are equally creative, elegant & beeautiful!! I know, coz I have checked out their boutiques. :)

There's Beatrice Looi

And Melinda Looi

And the emerging designer.... Karynn Looi

Ok, am not quite a Looi yet but I will be when I wear the dress. Heheheh ;)

Here is what I have come up with... but to keep it a surprise, I have pixelated it. Hehehehe... it's P & C for now!!

Have even found a tailor but have yet to go for measurements and fitting. I really can't wait to see my creation come to life!!! :)

The house-hunt

Since I have a few weekends of total freedom from my MBA, Al and I have been going around house-hunting. Looking at place after place. Indeed house-hunting is a very very difficult task when you are on a budget. We looked at mostly apartments and condos coz unless we are willing to stay far far away from civilization,(which we both do not want) we can't afford a landed place.

One place that I pretty liked was this Townhouse place in OUG. Close to my office and to civilization!! The neighbourhood is gated and guarded as well... yet maintenance fees are reasonable. :)

The houses look a bit old but nothing a fresh coat of paint cannot fix.

The neighbourhood is nice, peaceful and quiet.

Landscaping nicely maintained.

There's a pool right in the middle and a community hall thingy.

Alas!! We saw this sign on the way in...

No doggies and kitties for me??? Later while going around the neighbourhood I saw a girl bathing her dog!! Also, we saw strays-a-plenty!

Can always catnap or dognap one of 'em strays and make 'em my own. ;)

That wasn't the biggest problem. The biggest problem is, that because the developer has gone bankrupt (stupid irresponsible MBF!!) and the land title is not out... the banks will not give out a loan for this development. :(

Sigh...
Isn't it ironic? Don't you think?

Wedding planning

Finally found a place for the wedding banquet... unlike house hunting, this was a pretty easy task. We both practically fell in love with the first place we looked.

1. It is close by to our church. About 5-10 mins drive away. :)

2. Plenty of parking spaces. :)

3. Nice big banquet hall... :)

with huge glass windows overlooking some greenery. :)

4. Strictly halal; no headaches in seating arrangements! :)

5. The walk-way into the restaurant is pretty too...plenty of greens. :)

Pretty koi fishies!! :)

6. The food is good, I know coz our church had a function there before. :)

Am so excited!! :) :) :) :)

I'd better get back to studying... only 2 more days to exam!!

The proposal...

Last nite was our usual cellgroup meeting. After the usual Bible study stuff, it was makan time. They celebrated my birthday for me and Eric, as we do every year.

While we were having our supper, Wai Ling, my cell-leader said she had a video to show us. Me, missing church so often lately due to my studies thought it could be an event I missed in church.

As the video started... I realized, this aint any ordinary video. Know what was in store for me?

How can a girl not say yes to that??? :) :) :)

The next big step...

Guess what?

Alvin proposed tonite, and I said yes!!!

It's d next big step for us... towards our very own happy-everafter! And I can't wait!!

Wanna know how he proposed? I'll save that for later... :)
