Shall we dance?

Yesterday, finally had the chance to go dancing with bf. We attended the ballroom dancing class at FF Damansara Uptown. It was a cha cha class. I think both bf and I did pretty well for first timers. Aaahh, gxholism does improve your sense of rhythm and coordination.

It was not much of a workout but it was good fun because I was doing it with him. Always wanted to go dancing together. I guess doing it at the gym is a good start... perhaps next time we can do it in a more romantic setting? *hint hint* ;-)

Attached but not fused: Part II - Life is a jigsaw puzzle

In part I, I told you "why" I wanted to steer clear of being fused to my bf but part II is the "how".

I liken life to a jissaw puzzle and the passions in life as the puzzle pieces. My ex-boss once said "I know you're a passionate person but I have no idea what it is that you are passionate about!!" The thing is, I don't just have one passion. I have many... different ones at different point in time, or a mixture of some all at one time. Each piece of the puzzle is equally important to complete the picture of my life.

One piece of it is my love for music... How can I ever live without singing? I love performing on stage and love taking relentless attempts at competitions no matter I fail or succeed. And then there's always good ole karaoke!

The other piece is my baby Melodie...

Ok, not so baby anymore but still baby in my mind. :-)

Another piece is my bestfriend...
oops, wrong pic

Okay, we not as sexy as those two

Nor are we as rich

But we're much crazier

And we're still together after all these years
Wouldn't it be great if we have daddies as loaded as the Paris and Nicole's? Money from your own daddy is always the best, unconditional... much unlike money from "sugar"daddies. Think of what fun we'd have, the possibilities are endless!
I can't possibly imagine life without her!! I've known her for many years... been through good and bad times together. Been each other's toxis dumpster. Been each other's party/fun buddy. Even been colleagues before in our perfume-selling days. We know that no matter what shit happens in each others' lives, the other can be there to look out for each other without judging.

Next piece is my 2nd bestfriend...

We have known each other since high school. Although we never really spent much time with each other in the past, we are somehow comfortable enough to share our troubles and secrets whenever we do get together. Now, we've taken the initiative to meet up a lot more often. That's how she got promoted to 2nd bestfriend ranking... heheh. True friends must always be cherished!

Another piece is my love for travelling to strange or foreign lands which I've never been before. I never had the chance or luxury of ever travelling when I was young. So when I started working, I promised myself that once a year, I will travel to one country that I've never been to. Earth is a pretty big planet and there's still a whole lot to cover!!

Another piece is some parts of my job...

I believe whole-heartedly in our tagline "Making a meaningful difference in patients' lives". I have never seen a medical company doing so much for the patients before. All they do is spoil the doctors because they are the buyers/prescribers. With all the activities I do for the kidney failure patients and the hemophiliacs... I really feel that I AM making a meaningful difference in the patients lives.

Another piece is gxholism and dancing!

Bodyjam rocks!
The thrill you get from the endorphin rush after a class... is definitely addictive!

This piece is in every girls jugsaw puzzle... shopping!

There's nothing more therapeutic for a girls mood that retail therapy. It can be new shoes, new clothes, new make-up or new accessories... makes not difference. It'll still give you that wonderful "Yay-yay! I have new stuff!!!" feeling.

A very important piece is God...
I do wish I was as passionate about Him as my other passions but honestly, I still need to put a lot of work into making Him a passion. I do get passionate about the stuff I do for Him: serving in the worship team, church camp committee work, homegroup activities...etc. Also, I get super passionate about Him whenever any unbelievers doubt him, then I get into this defense-lawyer mode and put forth all my facts to prove them wrong!! Things of this world can disappear in a instant, but our Father in heaven will always be there.

And of course a super important BIG piece is... my bf!!
Come here baby!!
I guess it is always tempting to spend every single waking moment with the one you're in love with. But with all the different pieces that makes up the complete picture of my life, I hardly have the time to be completely fused to him. He too has his own passions in life! So, we don't really get to spend that much time together. That's why spending time together is always a pleasure. Be it at the on a vacation, wathing a movie, just makan, gym or even just lepaking doing nothing, I always look forward to it!!

I'm sure there are other pieces which I have yet to discover, but I will find them as I go along until one day the picture is complete!

Happy Birthday to Zwui!

Happy birthday to you, Zwui!!!

Yesterday was zwui's birthday so a bunch of us decided to give her a small dinner celebration.

Anyway, before the dinner... I went to the cake shop to get her birthday cake. They asked me what I wanted written on the cake. So, I wrote down nice and neat on a piece of paper "Blessed Birthday Zwui!"
My writing is pretty neat but do you know what came out in the end?
"Bleesed Birthday To Zwui..." in bright red! Lucky she could betulkan it. What is so hard about rewriting a simple phrase like that? I think the phrase "Happy Birthday To _____" is sooooo permenantly etched in their brains that they no longer process other phrases. Sheesh!

Anyway, we had dinner at Jimmy's Place at Taman Connaught, Cheras... suggested by Mei Kee. 7 of us came including d birthday gal. Budak Gile did stop by later to pass her gift 2 d birthday gal!
pink shoes!

The food was pretty good. Although Mei Kee said they're famous for the lamb shank, I personally prefered d pizza. It was really yummy, as is the lasagne.

After dinner, they adjourned to KTZ for dessert but cinderalla-me had to go home already. Tak boleh sleep after 12am or else cannot function the next day... hehehe.

Sight for sore eyes

Just had a terrible day today. Thank God for my bf... what a sight for sore eyes. Feel so bad had to make him the toxic dumpster when nothing was his fault. I feel sooooo much better now thanks to him. Love can do magic on even the worst days.

Anyway, yesterday I was my bestfriend's toxic dumpster pulak. She too felt much better at the end. I guess no man is an island. We all need someone who truly loves and cares for us just to get through those bad days alive.

I went to look for her at her ex-office, and guess who was there too?
Selvi in a bag!

Later we went back to Ampang and had our good ole kepak ayam goreng at Mamak Bukit Indah. Yummy as ever! After dinner, she realized that her car was disgustingly dirty.

At d carwash

After that, we went back to her house and I decided to give Speckles a haircut. His hair was so long it got tangled in several places. I thought he would look really handsome after a little grooming. However, tengah syok syok groom bunny forgot to take the "before" pictures. But voila!! Here's the "after" picture!

Attached but not fused: Part I - Of champagne and rice

As promised, am gonna explain why am I looking for travel-buddies or activity-buddies when I am happily attached... why am I not doing anything and everything with my bf?? Most girls I know, simply will not go anywhere without their other half. It can be rather irritating... so I vowed never to do that to my friends.

Conversation example:
Me: Hey there's a new cute chick flick at the movies! I know my bf will not be interested to see this one, this one's for us gals! Let's go watch it together!
Clingy girlfriend: Ok!! Great! I too wanna watch it. Let's go together then. Oh, let me call my honey bunny wunny darling pooooo to join us. It'll be sooo fun!
Me: (what!!!! did i say i was inviting him???? terpaksa la aku tipu sikit) Er, sorry, I just remembered I've bought the dvd already, promised to watch it with my sis and bestfriend. Another time la.

Probably that's why my closest girl friends just happens to be single and unattached because it is wwwaaaayyy too hard to peel those girls fused to their bf.

I've always believed that Love should not be a Need, it should be a Want. You don't get a thrill from fulfilling a Need but your heart flutters when you fulfill a Want.

For example, you buy a sack of rice... do you go "Yahoo!! I just bought new rice. I'm so excited.... I just can't wait to eat it!!"
Highly unlikely.

But if you had bought a bottle of perfume, a new sexy top, new glittery shoes, or a bottle of champagne... things you don't actually Need but you Want; wouldn't you look forward to using it, wearing it, savouring it? You don't have it everyday, but you will cherish it, appreciate it... each time you do have it. Your heart will flutter everytime you do have it, right?

Eg: No matter how much you like champagne, if you have it everyday, you will get sick of it after a while and start looking for alternative drinks. But if you only have it once in a while, it's heavenly!

Now if you'll excuse me, my Dom Perignon's waiting for me downstairs! We are going out tonite! Tata!
flutter flutter!

The Makan Way of Life

I know this is a bit basi but just thought I'd parasite off Fatboy's blog on attending YHSMOM's dinner with bf last Saturday. No point being redundant eh? Anyway, the thing that was not mentioned there was, Fatboy's home made brownies were super duper yummy!!! How I wish I could bake like that... but then again, if I could bake like that I'd have to attend as many classes as my bf teaches every week to burn it off!! So, I guess my domestic-handicap is a blessing in disguise.

Last nite, had another dinner with the gals at Jim Thompson @Starhill Gallery. Was there with Budak Gile, Sze Wui and Fiona. The food was good. Loved the Tap Tim Krob. But what was better was the company and gal-talk. Also, the fact that Budak Gile and I had the time to go home and get all dolled up for the occasion was fun too!! It's not always that we can go all vain and dressy to dine at a nice posh place. Was enjoying ourselves so much that I got back home at 1++am! Way past my 11am bedtime... heheheh.

Travel Discovery

After this wonderful trip in Korea wt my Sg colleagues, I just discovered something. I have been having problems finding travelmates to share adventurous streak because I have only looked within Malaysia.

Many times my friends have declined with these excuses reasons:
- they are broke.
- they are creatures of comfort so would only consider travelling to limited places.
- they are saving to buy a house.
- they are saving for a wedding.
- they have just bought a house.
- they have just spent their life-savings on a wedding.
- they just had their first baby and expenditure priority goes to the baby.
- they will only travel with their partners coming along and I have no intention of tagging along as a 3rd wheel.
- they have no time to travel or not able to take leave.
- etc

My new discovery??? There's a whole bunch of fun, crazy and independent people two hops across our southern border who are around my age, not broke and not surgically sutured to their partners!! If you wanna know why I am not surgically sutured to my bf all the time, that deserves a whole post on its own... do look out for it!

Why didn't I think of expanding my search beyond the borders of this country before eh? Next year, I'll try inviting friends from Singapore and even beyond! I do hope it will not be a disappointing search then!!

World here I come!

Sale!!!

Last Saturday, my sis and I went for the Annual Estee Lauder group of companies stampede sale. We never miss this annual affair as we can always get the invitation cards. Both of us used to work part-time for Estee Lauder.

As always, there was already a massive crowd there even though we reached there bright and early, around 8am. Most of them were women. There were several guys there too but it looks more like they were dragged there to accompany their shopaholic girlfriends. What a waste of invitation cards!

Anyway, these women at the sale were not the ordinary folks you see on the streets. These were a completely new species... the ganas species who can push you, elbow you and stomp on you just to get through to their cosmetics. No amount of Karate or Bodycombat skills could protect me. However, due to the crazily low prices at this sale, we always come back every year. Semangat kekiasuan!

Thankfully, my sis and I were very efficient shoppers, we had already planned what we wanted to get. So we went in, got the stuff, paid for it and got outta there in time for a nice nasi lemak breakfast!

An yeong hi ge se yo Korea...

Just back from Kelantan again... pretty tired but still got energy to blog!! Finally have some time to finish blogging about my memorable Korea trip. Am still fascinated with that place.

Our hosts brought us the the usual touristy places in Su Won. We went to the Folk Village.

Zen looking more like he's enjoying it than suffering... hhmm, maybe he's into S&M?? heheh

the cultural shows....zzzzz

Then we went to "The Great Wall of Su Won" Apparently this fort was built to guard the King's grandmother's residence many many many years ago.

Whooooossh!! Hold tight, Hurricane Katrina's here!

After our visit to Su Won, it was time to say goodbye to our gracious hosts and make our way back to Seoul. We took a train back to Seoul.

The next day was pretty much a shopping day. See lah... was so syok shopping until I didn't even take a single photo that day. Only in the evening when we went out for dinner at a Sushi place I got my blogger instincts back and brought my camera along.

Korean sushi... hhmm thought Korea and Japan tak ngam???

Zen and Tina

Wendy and me!

After dinner, we took a cable car up to Namsan Tower up on a hill overlooking the whole of Seoul. Was pretty cold up there, it was also drizzling. But it was beautiful! The ambience was good and had a romantic feel to it.

Cheers!

Seoul from a bird's eye view

The next day, I had to take the morning flight back to Malaysia. Zen and Tina stayed for another day but I couln't join them. :-( Didn't really have enough of Korea yet but I had to work arrive in Langkawi for work on the same day.

Anyeonghi geseyo... till we meet again, Korea!

Tae Han Ming Gu!!

We also went to visit d royal palace and its secret gardens in Seoul. Took lotsa pics coz d scenery was very pretty. Somehow the trees there look much better than those in Malaysia. Green things are greener, red things are redder, yellow things are yellower... oh, u get the idea. And it is definitely not a case of the grass being greener on the other side... probably the fours season climate has something to do with it.

d king and his 2 concubines? hehe, nope, it's just us... explorers from a land far far away

d tourguide... one of the few locals we met who speaks good english!

d secret gardens

"and this is the servants' quarters"... me taking a shot as a travel show host! Everyone's dream job!

After that, we went to the shopping area near a women's university for... what else? Shopping la!!

Gwiopta Tina!

Alamak, aku tak nak mati lagi la!

After we went back to the hotel to freshen up and change, it was World Cup time! We took the lrt to meet out wonderful hosts, EonJung and her hubby. They drove us to Su Won stadium, about 2 hours south of Seoul. Even in Seoul itself the World Cup craze was everywhere. Everyone was wearing red supporting their country's team.

When we arrived at the Su Won stadium, it was already packed with people... all in red. Think it's d only time when a stadium full of football fans has a vacant field right in the middle. All eyes were on the big screen... awaiting the Korea vs Switzerland game at 4am. All cheering "Tae Han Ming Gu!!"

When in Rome, do as the Romans do.... so we too are in red! Tae Han Ming Gu!!

It gets a little bit chilly at night even in summer

Cool tag line eh? It sounds like a Korean saying "Let's go together for our dreams"

After a disappointing game of Switzerland:2 Korea:0, it was daylight. Daylight was very early in Korea. It's almost bright at 4++am. We then went to a spa. The only culture shock for us unsuspecting folks is the changing room and bath area. Everyone was in their birthday suit. Old or young, fat or thin, smooth or wrinkly, hairy or waxed. Eeeeew!! Yucks!

At the unisex common area, most of the people were just sleeping on the floor. Ah, sleep... something all of us were deprived of the previous nite. So we took a short nap there on the floor too.

Oh well, some of us slept more soundly than others...

We all wore the funny hat folder using a towel(thanx to our teacher EonJung and we ate a brown coloured egg, just like in the Korean serial dramas

After resting at the spa we went for lunch.

Our gracious hosts, d happy couple!

Oh, well... will be driving to Penang tomorrow. So better start packing! Sambung another day!!
