A beachy break
| Sawadeekah Phuket! |
Hubby and I have just returned from a nice break in Phuket. It's been from one hectic production to the next. First Empress Wu: The Musical, then straight into EverWorld: The Musical. We've been looking forward to some "OFF" time together. Off from productions, off from work, and off from data roaming hehehe.

Other than the heavenly Thai massages, everything else in Patong is horribly expensive. Food, shopping, transportation, excursions, etc etc. A regular meal at a kopitiam-ish place costs us about RM60!! Initially I thought I'm on sabbatical and is extra broke at this time, everything feels relatively more expensive... but even McDonald's costs about RM18-20 per medium combo meal. Bleh.
We had a wonderful time anyway, we both love Thai food... to da max!! And we both love massages. For RM25, you can get yourself an hour's worth of a full body Thai massage! Nice!!! Can get massages to our hearts' content! :) :) :)
We obviously ate to our hearts stomach's content!! We did minimal shopping only... it's not as satisfying or as good a bargain as shopping in Bangkok.

Ohiogozaimas Osaka!!
Just had a really wonderful vacation this Christmas. In Japan with my BFF aka Sui Poh!! We've been friends since we were 13 but she lives in Boston now. But distance can never stop friendship kan?
After arriving at Narita airport, had to put on an innocent face to pass through customs as I very well know I had brought lotsa food from Malaysia which is not allowed there including a tupperware of fresh Siew Yoke!! ;) Fortunately, I passed through everything without any problems.
Upon reaching Tokyo via the Narita express, BFF and I took another train, a Shinkanzen, Osaka-bound!

View of Mt Fuji from the Shinkanzen

Osaka

Osaka at nite!

Me and Sui Poh!
How can one come to Osaka without having their famous Takoyaki? There were Takoyaki stalls everywhere!! We didn't know which to pick so we just hentam la.

Takoyaki... mmmm!

Me chowing down some Kani (crab)

Me chowing down some Okonomiyaki
Boy, I'd sure need intensive gym after the trip with all that good food!
At the subway, Sui Poh showed me a sign... she said that Japan is a highly stressful place and many commit suicide on the train tracks. This sign simply reminds these people, don't jump onto the train tracks during rush hour. Hehehe... kalau nak mati pun, don't disrupt other people's schedules. The puntuality of the trains are amazing!

The hotel we stayed in Osaka was Hanshin

It was a pretty nice place. Rooms were comfy, not at all cramped. Very very very worth it for the price we paid!

Hot spring water flowing from the bath! :)
Then we went to Universal Studios.

I'm gonna eat u up, u giant Takoyaki!
But the lines were crazy!! So we decided not to go in. Just hang around Osaka doing other stuff together is fun too. We wouldn't want to spend precious vacation time in queue after queue.

We went to the Takoyaki Museum. Bought lotsa Takoyaki crackers and other snacks there too.

Then we stopped for lunch at a Udon place. Yummy!

More to come after this!!

Vacation with baby!
Notice that I've checked off "vacation with baby' from my "heart's desires" on the side bar?
Well, we went to Kuala Terengganu last week!! Bf won the stay in Suria Merang Resort.

A quiet resort...
But the highlights of the trip was not the resort. The ingredients that made this a wonderful trip are:

The company

White sandy beaches

Clear blue sea
What more can a girl ask for?
Stay tuned for more on the trip!!

Singapura, oh Singapura
We just got back from Singapore on Monday night and took a nice day off doing practically nothing. Only back to work today... sigh... you always don't feel much like working after a holiday. Plus the big disappointment that happened last week.... lagi takde mood! Sob sob!
Oh well... let's get to the happier topic. The trip was wonderful. All the time in the world to spend with bf. We stayed at a budget hotel called Fragrance Hotel @Selegie Road. Rooms are quite comfortable, clean and equipped with da basic stuff. But da bathroom/toilet???

So small u take do ur "biznes" and take a shower at the same time!!
There was nothing much to do in Singapore actually. We walked around the shopping malls most of the time.

@Orchard Road
Then we met up with some friends in the evening. Met up with my friends/colleagues Tina and Wendy first and found out some depressing news of many people leaving da company there. These were da 1st people who trained/orientated me when I first joined. The people I even went for vacation with. Now they are going, going and soon... gone. How sad... I guess even if we are no longer colleagues we can still stay friends.
Later we met up with bf's fren, Leslie who just went over to Singapore to work for SIA.
Then on Sunday, came our main purpose for the trip. Tha Phantom of the Opera!

@d Esplanade
The show was really good. The music was great and the stage effects, fantabulous!! Really love how they manipulate the stage and props to create perfect scenes everytime. Only thing is that our seat was so high up, we couldn't watch it at eye-level. The tickets were sold out!! Every single seat taken up.
After the show, we just walked around in some more malls and also around the Boat Quay area.

@Boat Quay
But we ended up for dinner at City Hall area.

Ooey Gooey cheeeeeezy sticks!! Yum!
It's always a good vacation when you go with the right person. Can't wait for our trip next month!!

Happy birthday to me!
So, am 1 year older... one year closer to the big 30. I don't mind growing older chronologically, bcoz you are only as old as you feel. But hhhmm, it does make you reflect upon your life.
Yesterday was more eventful and blog-worthy. My homegroup gang went house to house, pai lin. They even came halfway across the world to my house! And they celebrated my birthday! :)
We started out in Andy's house where we were completely stuffed with food!! He has always been the most generous person in d group.
At Andy's place

An abundance of food!
Yum yum!

Our generous host, da big guy with da big heart!

Andy's Puppies!!!!
In the afternoon, we went to Yuet Ngoh and my place.
At night we went over to Eric and Selan's place for some more food.

Steamboat! How was it?

Our gracious host says "good!!"

Then it was birthday celebrations for Eric and me. They bought us chocolate brownies! Yum yum!!
Today itself was nothing much though...
- I am back to work today with lots to do.
- bf's not around.
- my family is having a steamboat dinner gathering... but the occasion is CNY.
Thankfully,
- my bestfriend came all the way to see me and pass me my birthday present! A very pretty one too.
- my boss and colleague bought me lunch.
- was gonna send my laptop which went dead on me few days ago for fixing when it suddenly came back to life!
- Ps Ronnie and Ps Lisa sent me a lovely card this year for d first time!
Only about 1 hour left of my birthday... I'm very thankful to have so many wonderful caring friends and family around me this time of the year. I'm not sensitive about age and have never been worried about growing older but birthdays do make you think alot about your life...
what have I achieved in life so far???
has my personal life progressed???
has my career progressed???
has my spiritual life progressed???
have I progressed at all since my last birthday???
where do I go from here???
as Carrie Underwood would sing... Jesus, Take The Wheel!!

Chilling with my baybeh
Just got back from Penang last night. Spent an entire week there with my bf... doing what? Eat sleep, eat sleep, eat sleep and the occasional gx-class. Dis is de life man!! Never knew being utterly unproductive feels so good...
I brought my laptop but no internet, can't work even if I wanted to! Hallelujah!!
I brought my outdoor cross trainers, but we didn't go hiking as planned. The food and the bed had a much stronger hold on us.
I brought my camera, but didn't even snapped one photo.
Bf drove... and his car was manual, I can only drive an auto. So I didn't drive for a week! Hallelujah!! No cranky me (during traffic jam) for a week!!
Basically I lived the Garfield lifestyle for one week!! Heavenly! Bf took some pics, hope he has the time to post them up and blog about our wonderful Christmas/New Year week!!
