Learning the Ukulele

I've always ALWAYS wanted to busk in NYC. Being a pianist, erm... nak angkut piano or keyboard to NYC tu... erm, not exactly practical coz unfortunately, teleportation devices have not been successfully invented yet. My only option is just sing a-capella busking solo, erm... not exactly ideal either. My guitar skills?? Tak lah terra, guitars are big & heavy too. Carry it on a 24hr-long flight with transits in between?? No way.

So, I have decided to learn up a much more practical street busking instrument to accompany my singing... light, portable & needs no electricity source... the Ukulele!!!

The minute I decided to learn the Ukulele, I immediately bought one to get started on learning it. As luck would have it, it came in pink Hawaiian-ish floral design!! Can you imaging my joy????

I figured if Google could teach me how to make a yummy Chikuteh, Google can also teach me the Ukulele. And don't ever forget the power of Youtube!!

Tuning the Ukulele: erm, this guys's notes are kinda out. I had to use my keyboard as reference instead.

Learning how to play the basic chords

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some tuning to do... and a lot of practicing to do. La la laaaaaa ;-)

A place to call home

After a long and tiring hunt, we finally found a place we like, can afford, hasn't got any developer problems and only about 5-10mins from my office!! :)

In fact, it was d first place we looked at... after a long exhausting search and looking at other places, we were back to square one and it was still da best! The unit we first saw many moons ago was already sold when we finally decided to go back to it. However, another unit which was even better just opened for sale at almost the same price... only couple of grand more. :)

It is new place, was only complete last year. So the unit is completely new, we will be the first occupants!

D master bedroom

From the other angle

It is a corner unit, therefore the corridor outside the front door is ours and ours alone!!

The kitchen area and courtyard

It has huge pool...cool???

Well, it's not technically ours yet till all the legal and $$$ process is all done. That'll take at least 3-4 months. I can't wait!!! :)

New Ipod!!

I just won a Silver 80G Ipod Classic from Dove!!!

Isn't it cool???

I've won stuff many times... last time was a pair of 3G phones from Wall's contest. Aren't I lucky blessed??? Not only because I am Christian but all along luck has very little to do with it. Most, if not all of the contests I've won before are effort or creativity-based. I've never had any luck with random winner contests.

Initially was thinking of selling it off to buy myself a new phone. But after some consideration I guess I'm not dat poor and should spoil myself once in a while. So, I shall keep it AND get a new phone! :)

Kepak kerbau

A close friend of mine from high school just came back from the U.S. for a visit home before she goes off to Japan. Although she has flown off, she left me a souvenir from the states...

Hot sauce!!

And with it a recipe for kepak kerbau aka buffalo wings... my favourite food on the face of this earth!

Just got myself some raw wings from Jusco, tenyeh-tenyehkan sos dan mentega...

Bake it...

And voila!!

Sedap...mmmmmm. Don't you just love all American food? Even their regular food tastes like junkfood!! Yummy!

Bodyjam 40!!

Went for the new Bodyjam 40 last week. I have mixed reviews for this release. Music not as good as the last release, not so many hits in the songlist.

- Warm-up, so-so sahaja.
- Da latin track, tak ada kick la. Still prefer the previous release.
- The jive-swing track is da bomb!!! I loved "Candyman" at first move! I have always loved the swing era. The music, the fashion, the dance... love it love it love it!!! Btw, does anyone know where can I take up swing classes????
- Recovery track was cool too! JT's "My Love"
- Da last block, also so-so sahaja la. All the songs tak pernah dengar la.
- Cool down was quite cool, with da disco feel.

Overall, my fav is still Bodyjam 39 and 35. Still, I will go back for more, just for a taste of my "Candyman"!!! It don't mean a thing, if it ain't got that swing! ;)

1 per album

Have no idea why do I only like 1 song per album. It is totally not worth it to buy a whole album that costs RM40++ just to listen to 1 measely song. Unfortunate for me, my car audio system is still d conventional CD player. Can't plug in MP3 players so I can't buy the iTunes or anything like that.

I like:

1. Jojo's The High Road - How To Touch A Girl (love it!!!)
2. Christina Aguilera's Back to Basics - Candyman (love it!)
3. Cassie's self titled album - Long Way 2 Go
4. Shakira's Oral Fixation - Illegal
5. Justin Timberlake's Future sex/love sounds- Sexyback
6. Beyonce's B'day- Irreplaceable
7. Vanessa Hudgens' V - Come Back To Me
8. Happy Feet OST, Gia Farrell's - Hit Me Up
9. Jem's They - Wish I

Anyone knows if these are available in singles here???

Life Overflowing

Just got back from a pre-Valentine's Day dinner with bf. We celebrated in advance as he is working tomorrow nite for the V Day theme classes.

Remember our little moment of glamour at the recording studio?

Well, the fruit of our labour is out!!

the Life Overflowing CD

And over-ripe already actually. It was out since Christmas but I keep forgetting to publicize it. The CD is actually produced by one of our church members, Susan Yuen but a few of us were featured in the CD as guest singers... and we guests were pretty good I must say!! Ahem! Get a copy and you can be the judge. You can get all Simon Cowell-esque on us ;)

All the songs in there are original compositions.

da songlist

"I shall sing" is my proud solo!! "You are my rock" is bf's solo!

If anyone is interested to purchase it, please do let me know. It's only RM35 and all the proceeds go to the needy and the poor. If anyone just wants to preview what the songs sound like, please do let me know and I'll be happy to lend you my copy!

Spoiling myself rotten

One of my old friends use to tell me "If somebody wants to spoil you, let them". Yup, I agree with her... but I'd like to add "But if no one does, you can always spoil yourself!"

So I did. Remember my little problem with my new year's present to myself? Well, thanx to bf and one of my FJIs... da problem is solved!! I got myself a brand spanking new handphone of my choice at last!

Pretty phone! Too bad it doesn't come in pink

Woohoo! Now I can take better pics anytime anywhere!

Me @d curve

My Melodie!

I can make two-way video calls to bf!
I can listen to music!
I can surf the net anytime anywhere!
Er... actually I could do all that with my old phone too.
But best of all, the slide-phone design looks cool! (Yeah, I am that shallow...)

Isn't technology great?
Isn't retail therapy great?

Anyone wanna buy a phone?

I wanted to buy a new phone, sort of a new year present for myself. Since my friend's boyfriend sells phones, thought I'd give him business instead of giving it to others.

I wanted a reasonably priced 3G phone with a nice camera so I told him I wanted the Nokia 6233. It has a 2Mpixel camera. I also wanted a phone where I can sync with my pc to back up all my phone book, pics and music. Nokia 6233 has Bluetooth and comes with the Nokia PC Suite software for synching all that!

He does not keep ex-stock phones because his business is usually with regular customers who will place order beforehand. Therefore, he ordered one.

But mana tau I changed my mind. Now I want a different model but he is insisting I take the phone. The stupid thing is that I have already given the money to his girlfriend (my friend la tu)... :-(

The phone is a original Zitron Nokia, comes with the Bluetooth headset. I bought it at RM1090 only. Anyone interested? The phone is still with the him... even the warranty card haven't been stamped or dated. He said he will try to sell it, until then my money is stuck there and I have no new phone for the new year. :-(

Anyone wants to buy a brand new Nokia 6233 at RM1090? It's a pretty good deal, I've checked it out already.

Ahoy! Bad hair days ahead!!

It's been ages since I had my hair trimmed... too lazy as the regular saloon I frequent is all the way in Bukit Bintang. So, I decided to try out this new saloon near my place since they had a promotion going on: APT Professional. They have so many branches around I thought it can't be that bad...

I told the hair-stylist I wanted to trim my hair. I specifically told him not to layer my hair so much as my hair is the frizzy/curly type. It needs some weight to weigh down the frizz. He kept saying that my hair is too thick and heavy, it would look better layered. He proceeded to cut it to his stupid taste!! I stopped him halfway saying it I do not want is layered so much as I noticed him snipping it off so short on certain parts. He said don't worry, my hair will look the same in length, he's just making it lighter.

To my horror, it came out exactly as I was worried about. Frizzy with curves at the end of every layer!!!

Why can't a senior hairstylist obey the customer's instructions? Why do they think they know best? I'm the one who will have to be stuck with this hairstyle day in day out!!! What makes them think they know me better than I know myself???? I have handled this stubborn hair for the past 20++ years of my life. How can they think they know better?

Now it is beyond repair... nothing can make my hair grow back instantly.

Now I will have to tie up my hair for the next 6 months or so before I have enough length to restyle it!! I wanna cry!!! I will have no confidence in the way I look for the next 6 months!! I hate APT!!

Can I sue??? Can anyone suggest any remedy for me?

Ahh! It's a tai-tai life!

I just signed up for a facial package at spa near my office recently as they were having this really attractive promotion. It still made me about 2.8k poorer though. :-/
But it's not often that I treat myself to the tai-tai lifestyle and the number of sessions will probably last me for nearly 2 years. As usual, can only get big discounts if u commit to alot of sessions. (Yes, I'm rationalizing to myself for spending so much!)

So yesterday evening, I did my 1st pampering session.

Started with a jacuzzi spa bath that's suppose to help moisturise and whiten my skin.

Then it was facial time. After cleansing my face, she steams it with this apparatus. While the steaming is on to open up my pores, she gives me a wonderful shoulder/back massage. Aaahhh, was so great to have the relaxing smell of lavender.

Then it was the most painful part, extraction of black & white heads.

After that, she slather on some collagen gel thingy and used an ultrasound like thingy to run all over my face. After that, it was some eye-treatment thing followed by some really thick gooey mask that felt really cool on my face and neck.

After the whole long process was over, which took about 2 1/2 hours... I didn't really know what each step was for but I truly felt like a million dollars. All relaxed and my confidence soaring. This must be what the rich tai-tais feel like all the time as they do this every so very often. Lucky them!

I can't wait for my next session!! I'm so glad I committed to so many sessions... heheheh

Sale!!!

Last Saturday, my sis and I went for the Annual Estee Lauder group of companies stampede sale. We never miss this annual affair as we can always get the invitation cards. Both of us used to work part-time for Estee Lauder.

As always, there was already a massive crowd there even though we reached there bright and early, around 8am. Most of them were women. There were several guys there too but it looks more like they were dragged there to accompany their shopaholic girlfriends. What a waste of invitation cards!

Anyway, these women at the sale were not the ordinary folks you see on the streets. These were a completely new species... the ganas species who can push you, elbow you and stomp on you just to get through to their cosmetics. No amount of Karate or Bodycombat skills could protect me. However, due to the crazily low prices at this sale, we always come back every year. Semangat kekiasuan!

Thankfully, my sis and I were very efficient shoppers, we had already planned what we wanted to get. So we went in, got the stuff, paid for it and got outta there in time for a nice nasi lemak breakfast!
